Three generations of tailoring excellence
Schneider Atelier was founded in 1967 by Hermann Schneider, a master tailor who learned his craft in post-war Germany. He believed that clothing should enhance, not constrain. That philosophy shaped every garment that left his workshop.
When his daughter Erika took over in 1992, she expanded the atelier's capabilities while maintaining the same uncompromising standards. She introduced wedding dress creation and leather restoration—services that required new skills but shared the same foundation: patience, precision, and respect for materials.
Now led by Erika's son Thomas, the atelier operates much as it always has. We still take measurements by hand. We still finish buttonholes manually. We still treat each client as if they're the only one.
The difference is scale. What started as a single room above a bakery is now a full workshop with specialized stations for cutting, sewing, pressing, and finishing. We've grown, but not in ways that compromise quality.
Master Tailor
Specializes in bespoke suiting and pattern drafting. Trained under his mother for 12 years before taking leadership of the atelier.
Wedding Dress Specialist
Focuses exclusively on bridal wear and formal dresses. Her background in theatrical costume design brings unexpected creativity to traditional silhouettes.
Leather Artisan
Handles all leather repairs and restorations. Previously worked in automotive upholstery, which taught him to work with challenging materials and complex repairs.
Alterations Lead
Manages the alterations department. Known for solving fit problems that other tailors consider impossible.
Most tailoring shops rush. They book too many appointments, take measurements too quickly, and promise delivery dates they can barely meet. We don't operate that way.

Once we understand the goal, we can recommend the right approach. Sometimes that's a full bespoke creation. Sometimes it's strategic alterations to existing pieces. We're honest about what will serve you best.
